Photoshop to get GPU and physics acceleration

Santa Clara (CA) – GPU acceleration is one of the most significant trends in today hardware industry, opening the doors to an entirely class of software running desktop. What will be possible is fascinating to see on a monitor, nut it is not tangible, if you just hear about it. It appears that the next Photoshop will be one of the first mainstream applications that will tap into the GPU for a speed up. And, at least from what we have seen during a first demonstration, the progress is simply stunning.

Create the World in Sixty Seconds

1.From the menu bar, select File/New, and make the file size about 200 pixels by 200 pixels. Make sure that the file is in RGB mode.

2.Select a light blue for the foreground color, (I used #cff8fc) and a darker blue for the background color (I used #010d62). Of course, you can select any colors that you prefer, but for best results select two colors that have a high constrast.

3.Select Filters > Render > Clouds.

Matrix - Effect

1. Open a new Document, whatever size you like. Give it a black background layer. Create a new layer and select the type tool.

2. Now we’ll get to work on creating that text with all the strange characters. How do we do it? Well, we could spend half the day typing strange keyboard combinations or call on the help of an every day text editor. Since I’m on a Mac the obvious choice is BBEdit. For PC’s, I dunno, maybe word or something will work. What you do is open up a graphic file not supported by the text editor. I found opening a TIFF file worked quite nicely.

Lightning

This tutorial should show you the creation of naturally looking lightnings breaking the clouds.
First, create a new image and fill it with a gradient like shown here. I’ve chosen 0:0:0 as foreground color and 191:191:191 as background color.
